I decided that tomorrow's project will be to build a bench for it to sit on along with retractable casters.

I wanted the full weight of the SS and the bench sitting on the ground vs. sitting on wheels for more stability when doing lathe work.

I saw this on EBay yesterday. This was an interesting retro fit that somebody came up with for the Mark V. I thought it might give you some ideas.

The bench is done.
a bit of work and money to go up 5 inches higher, but if my back feels better during lathe work, then it's worth it.



Once done I thought that I should make it so the table could be used other than drill press mode, so I notched out a section in order for the table to clear.

It has some weight to it with the SS on it and when the 35 lb. UTR come it should be quite stable for lathe work.

Retractable casters are due in from Rockler in a couple of weeks.

I have the two ends available without casters for no charge if someone wants them and will pay shipping.

I don't understand your comment about notching it out so that you can use it for other than drill press mode. It looks as though it will make an ideal table saw or lathe installation. The only question is height for a lathe. Lower would be better for me than for most.

As pictured, how high is the band saw table above the floor.

I have thought a lot about doing just this in order to lower the table height. My table (in table saw mode) hits me about arm pit height. I would like it about 6" lower.

OBSERVATION: You did not champher the bottom ends of your table legs. Until you get it on rowers, I suggest you avoid moving it (sliding it on the floor). Doing so without the chanpher makes the legs very susceptible to chipping.

How do you like your Olsen resaw blade.

because I wasn't thinking about using the table, without notching out the bench top a little, the carriage legs would hit if I lower them to do, say sanding or boring, but since it was such a little modification, I figure why not make it universal.

Olson blades are ok--I brought some $10 ones from Lowes the other day just to see how they are, they are made by Bosch.

My band saw, mounted on the Power Station, is about 4" lower than yours.

My band saw, mounted on the Mark V, is at 48".

I think I would build mine about 4" lower than yours. Remember, I am interested in lowering TS table height.

I got the retractable casters from Rockler.

they are everything they say.

They do the shop of lifting the SS and bench.

not the easiest the unrelease,

If I ever need to do another bench on retractable casters, I think I would try to make the SS casters fit.
