Power Pro parts/price list

Hey folks,
Thinking about upgrading my 510 headstock to a Power Pro and was looking on the SS site for a parts/price list and couldn't find one. Just trying to see what I'm up against should something "go bump in the night" after the upgrade. Any one have any links?

If you were looking on this site, your dilemma is understandable. No price lists here. You should find what you want (are looking for) at http://www.shopsmith.com .

I am not aware of a price list for the power pro components.

The list would be pretty short - Motor - Control 'module' - Keypad/display - cables - misc. hardware.

Needless to say any nocturnal bumping by the first two would be expensive to replace.

This is one animal that I would give consideration to an extended warranty!(I have never previously done so!)

Sorry. I did not read your post very well. No ne of the PowerPro unique parts have been price listed (to the user) yet.

I have seen a PowerPro parts list (illustrated parts breakdown) and there is about 100 items on that list. I have attempted to access some of the part numbers by doing a part# search. The motor assembly for example is 522624 and a search returns "Item Number 522624 was not found".

On the other hand, part number 515616 returns "515616 Eccentric Bushing Assembly". This part is not unique to the PowerPro.

As already stated - the list of unique parts is not terribly long. What I think we would all like to know is what sort of price tag do these unique items carry.

PS: Actually, the PowerPro parts list contains only four 'assemblies' that are not price listed in the original (510) illustrated parts drawings online. They are the

PowerPro Motor Control Assembly,
Motor Assembly,
Motor Assembly Control Panel Assembly,
Power Supply Assembly.

These items are warranted but they are also not field serviceable. If they fail they must be returned to the factory for servicing.

This will be hard for me because I am a born tinkerer. Furthermore, I hate to pay someone for anything that I might be able to do myself.

There are a half dozen or so of small parts (hardware,etc) that do not cross to a price.

The parts Ive had go "bad" are just things that need tightened/re-set! Loose set screw, loose eccentric (same one as the 510) and adjusting bolts for the motor. Of course the two poly V belts could wear out, but think that would take a long - long time. Bearings could also go bad, but other than those, all parts differing from the 510 are electronic.

There is a troubleshooting guide in the PowerPro manual but Shopsmith's says those electronic parts must be factory repaired. The display will give a message that will indicate electronic part failure.

Upper parts like the quill and quill feed assembly are the same as a 510.

I would assume then that any service required for items on the following list would be done at the factory at the user's expense:

PowerPro Motor Control Assy
Motor Assembly
Control Panel Assembly
Power Supply Assembly

This doesn't leave much other than the Quill and the upper shaft.

Right now I believe every PowerPro shipped is still under warranty. I would not want to post the prices of the unique repair part if they are very high, it would discourage people from upgrading. I expect the electronics will be very high.

When you do the DIY upgrade, etc., you get a new quill assembly. Does anyone know if the quill bearings have been upgraded/changed now that the top speed for the power pro is 10,000 RPMs?

No, I do not know that BUT I would conclude that Shopsmith does that for some reason other than just giving you a new quill assembly. Maybe someone with a PowerPro will look to see what the part number is on their quill bearings.
