Either way, formal or social, would be a great thing to participate in.
I'm a moderator on a motorcycle web site and we have gotten to the point of holding "rallys" several times a year.
Last year for the West Coast we met in Coloma and rode out from a central point, this year we are doing a "rolling" rally through the whole state, mostly staying at each others houses.
We also set-up impromptu rides for the weekends.
We have really become a tight knit group and we learn a lot about techniques, maintenance, and modifications from each other.
I would think Shopsmith owners/users could greatly benefit from this type of socialization, since technique, maintenance, and accessories are a common theme.
We could even gather for sawdust sessions.
With 6000,000 sold, Shopsmith owners far out numbers the few thousand Kawasaki ZZR 1200 owners there are in the U.S.
I'm as remote as a guy can be in the lower 48 and I still find time to meet up with fello enthusist.

Let me clarify my position, please.

I was not intending to suggest a "local chapter" of Shopsmith users. I was suggesting that an informal meeting of users in your area might be of great value as a learning place.

If two or three or four (who knows how many) users could get together periodically and make sawdust together, help repair one anothers ailing machines, droll over someone's new OPR if might develop into something more.

But from my perspective it wouldn't have to. I would enjoy just the occasional comradary. The live, biweekly Sawdust Sessions are somewhat on that order but are much more formal.
