Reible asked for the price list - here it is. I attended the Lowe's demo in Richmond, VA earlier this week. The guy doing the demo was named Dave (or David - I don't remember). He was quite helpful, and I learned several things - especially about the bandsaw. This was the first time I had seen the PowerPro in person.

Anything bought at the Lowe's demo is rung up through the Lowe's checkout, which means that any applicable military discount does indeed apply. When I heard that, I was tempted by the bandsaw, but I'm holding out hoping to find a local Craigslist deal. If the lathe chisel sharpening jig had been available for purchase at a discount, I would have bought it. Instead, I bought the kitchen sink I was after and called it a day. It actually worked out really well, because the Lowe's near me an hour north of Richmond didn't have the size sink we needed in stock, so I was able to kill two birds with one stone by taking an afternoon off work and driving down to Richmond.

While we're on the subject, they are handing out a free CD at the demo with 12 woodworking project plans on it. I can't get mine to work however. If anyone else has the free handout CD and got it to work, please let me know how.

Thank You!

BTW I have one of the CD's and it works fine on my PC. It doesn't auto start but if I click on

12_plans (D:)

It comes up in my firefox as a new tab.

I think several of the plans on that CD are available from Shopsmith online, here:

I just made a horrible mistake.

I went to Youtube and searched Shopsmith Webinar.

I really should go to sleep and not watch another Shopsmith video and If my wife comes downstairs and catches me watching a video encouraging me to spend $4k more on my little hobby it might be worse than some of the other things she could catch me watching on the internet ;)

First the Webinar then the marketing..

1 I was invited, though what criteria was used for selection, I do not know. It seemed that everyone had at least one 500 with many having multiples (one person had just bought a new 7  ), but I presume that there are others on this forum who would have been in a better financial position than me to have benefited from the webinar sale prices.

2 The Youtube video presentations were very jerky. The video was easily 10 seconds behind the audio. I think  I had already seen all of them within the last few weeks so didn't figured I missed anything. Doug took all the time anyone and everyone need to answer questions. I left after an hour but he said he would stay as long as anyone wanted.

All in all it was a very decent seminar. And Doug if you happen to read this , Thank you!

I really wanted to know about the power available. I have been considering the PowerPro (and fence upgrade and double tilt) and I enjoyed getting to talk with Doug and had my concerns about the probable power answered. I'll rewire the plug and go to 220 since I already have it for my welder.

I appreciated the discount, but I need to wait until the traveling show gets to a nearby Lowe's and then put it on their card. By selling off my other two 500s and the ER-10 instead of using them for separate stations and eliminating from this years budget a new router table and heavy duty VS router, (hoping that the new PP motor and new table position will work for much of the heavy duty routing) that I do I can swing it.

Which brings me to the marketing that has been discussed....

Back in 1979 I bought my first SS at a demo, but back then the $2K plus was financed through SS. I do understand the strain it might put on SS to offer financing (maybe they can get a low interest rate outside company to offer it), but I think that more of the PowerPros would be sold if they could offer 12 to 18 months financing. Just my opinion.

I noticed the date on the demo price list is Apr 30, 2012. That's the day Shopsmith had raised most of their prices. In fact the Webinar price was slightly higher after the price increase, but I think it went back down. I honestly don't know because Apr 30 was like the last day I received a Webinar email. Hmm? Maybe its still in my inbox. Nope.

I think the prices were adjust to be the same for both the demo & the Webinar.
But I don't know for sure.

I'll know tomorrow what discounts are being offered. Just got the webinar invite this week. I know there was one last night so maybe someone here knows.

If you have a deep interest it probably doesn't hurt to ask if you can attend a webinar.

I was invited to 5 or 6 Webinars and made good use of the discounts. I enjoyed watching Doug Reid and had no trouble with the video. I don't have a copy of the Webinar prices because I was never sent a price list. Instead, Shopsmith sent me an email with a link to a special order form an hour or two prior to the webinar that includes pretty much the same stuff the demo list on this thread contains. The link expired pretty quick.
