Goldie Versions
A current thread (re)raised the question in my mind as to the Goldie variations.
AIUI the early goldies made by Yuba were gilmer/3/4hp/1 7/8" bench tubes.
The later goldies were made by Magna American and were poly-v/1 1/8hp/1 3/4" bench tubes.
Now for the cornfusion: I have a vent plate(sn372920) that says Yuba Power Products and 1 1/8hp.
I assume Yuba started the 'later version' prior to selling out to Magna American. I also assume the Yuba later version also had 1 3/4" bench tubes.
Any comments/corrections/discussion?:)
Some new info has been posted to this thread.
All the following SN were Goldies.
A SN 368399 was Yuba Gilmer 1 3/4" bench tubes[?].(Wiredone)
A SN 369442 was Yuba Gilmer 1 3/4" bench tubes*.(dickg1)
The last Yuba Gilmer 1 3/4" bench tubes* was SN 371347.
My vent plate SN 372920 is a Yuba 1 1/8hp and I assume a Poly-v and 1 3/4" bench tubes.(jpg)
My SN 377425 was Magna American Poly-v 1 3/4" bench tubes.(jpg)
* Since earlier(lower) SN had the 1 3/4" bench tubes, I think we can assume the last did also.
A thanks to Wiredone, dickg1 and Alec for the new details.
What are your SN Alec?

My and my daughters 1960 Goldies are both Yuba gilmer 3/4 hp models. I believe the 1 1/8 hp Poly V models were introduced in 1962. Your model sounds like a 1962 model, since the serial number is post 1961, but before being badged Magna. Do you remember what year you bought it?
I would be interested in knowing how many Goldie owners we have here at the forum... Alec

My 1962 Goldie sn(see below) was purchased new, and to add to the 'confusion', has a 1hp 115/230 50/60hz motor(poly-v).easterngray wrote:My and my daughters 1960 Goldies are both Yuba gilmer 3/4 hp models. I could get a lot done if it were not for my back. It is not really as bad as it used to be. In my case losing 60 pounds helped a lot and if I can lose 60 more (I would still be heavy
I can put in 6 or 8 pretty productive hours a day most of the time but it can be painful.
The most effective thing I have found so far to do for it is whine...
Also of course none of my problems are my fault.

And the chinese restaurant etc. are not at fault either!:Drobinson46176 wrote:I could get a lot done if it were not for my back. It is not really as bad as it used to be. As it is I head out to work on the farm but have to stop about 4 times a day for a break. I have always been big but a couple of years of being almost unable to walk a lot of the time kept me from being able to do enough to work off many calories.
