PDF Manuals Now On Line?!

Well, the Shopsmith website appears to be improving by leaps and bounds. They just recently went to zoomable service parts diagrams and now, tonight, I find that the entire bandsaw manual is on line in pdf format and ... drum roll ...free!

I hope this is the start of getting all the manuals available as free pdf downloads.

When thinking of buying a Shopsmith on Craigslist I didn't know what a Shopsmith was.
Like I usually do before buying anything I looked online for a manual to read and learn from.
I was surprised to find the company was in business and didn't have a pdf manual online.
I did find a video somewhere or else I never would have gone and looked at the MK V.
I know a lot of people that look online for manuals before buying things or before driving
into town to look at them if they saw a sale in the paper.

Since joining the forum here I learned there is some concern of Shopsmith staying in business.
This may help a bit most first time Shopsmith buyers seem to be buying used machines there gonna
need parts and accessories or at least a stylish apron.

I agree with all. This is a good move on Shopsmith's part. In tpday's world of information, I've noticed that a lot of people (including myself) do their homework on big purchase items before hand. PDF manuels online goes a long way in helping that effort.

Finally, I can kill about 40 pages of paper printing the band saw manual. Or just leave the PDF on my computer. Good job Shopsmith. These manuals and exploded parts breakdowns bring the old school tech into the new century.

You make a great point here. We often speak of our Mark 5/V being twenty or thirty or forty years old but seldom make mention that we have jointers, planers, belt sanders and bandsaws that are at least nearly as old.

I'm excited to see Shopsmith doing this, along with the recent site improvements. I get the feeling that maybe more than one person is monitoring our forum and actually listening to what we say/suggest.

Now, if we could only get the promotional items into the online catalog. I'd love a Shopsmith coffee cup, but I want to buy it from Shopsmith.
