If I buy while at the Lowe's demo...

Do I get it then & there, or must it be shipped? If shipped, anyone know how long it takes?

Also, when I buy my Mark 7, what can I expect in the box(es) and what are the "must have" accessories to get first? I already know I'll be looking into the dado set, but am not sure beyond that.

Unfortunately, there is no cash and carry here. You'll have to wait for your unit to be built. Again, unfortunately, I can not tell you how long you will have to wait because I have not yet ordered mine. Someday, but not for awhile. Fortunately, the wait will be worthwhile.

What accessories should I buy, you ask. Wow, that is a hard one. What do you already own and what are you going to be building.

Table saw blades and a dado set I believe are a must. For every blade, I would recommend that you buy a dedicated arbor. Having your blades on arbors make blade change a snap.

The accessory kit or all of the contents of same. The kit gives you maintenance items that you need immediately. Lubricate, lubricate, luibricate.

I recommend the Incra V120 miter fence. You'll get a miter fence but I think you want this one too. You'll want a fence extension to go with this. You can make one (I would) but you will very soon need one.

A set one drill bits is essential. The first should, in my opinion, be a set of brad points, and then a set of forstner bits and then a good set of twist bits. You can spend a small fortune here depending on what you buy. I am sort of middle of the road. I buy good forstners and good brad points. I use middle of the road twist bits. I don't drill a lot of metal and what I do is normally aluminum.

I expect a band saw in your near future. You want good blades for the band saw as well. I recommend Shopsmith - a full set of what they offer.

The crystal ball also shows a belt sander in your future. Again, get your replacements belts from Shopsmith. Buy their best. You'll not be sorry. I use my belt sander almost every day. Even when I have no wood projects in the works.

A conical disk and an assortment of sanding disks.

A velcro pad for you flat disk and an assortment of sand paper disks.

Somewhere in the near future you'll probably want an additional flat disk and an additional conical. How you use it and what you sand will dictate how many you want (note I did not say need).

Congratulations on your decision to buy. You'll be pleased and believe me you'll never be without a suggestion when someone says "what do you want for your birthday, or Christmas, or Father's Day or whatever. A Shopsmith gift card is always a good answer.

Sorry if I have missed anything but I am sure these will get you through the first few months.

One other item that I would put at the top of a list. One or two additional allen wrenches. One comes with the machine but I find that it is always hiding and I need the 2nd one. The third one is like life insurance. You don't need it til you need it.

I have found the Micro-Adjustable Stop Collar to be so useful I consider it a "must-have" for the Shopsmith owner. It is a modest investment that you will not regret; promise!! Alec

The Lowe's demo on 5/25 in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Please do not take this as gospel, but I could of sworn that Dave the demo man said that anyone buying a new Mark 7 would also get a choice of a free SPT. I assumed that to be a bandsaw or a belt sander- I wasn't really paying attention as I was trying to talk with Customer Service at Shopsmith in a noisy Lowe's. People were making more noise than the DVR motor on the PowerPro headstock.

It was just dumb luck I was at the demo when the manager extended the 18 month no interest/same as cash special for the Memorial Day Weekend special. What was cool was I got an extra 3% off because 7% of my 10% military discount went towards sales tax. It was still a great deal to allow me to buy a pressure washer and another special toy I've been looking at.

For those of you who don't have military or even VA ID cards, a Lowe's card was getting people 5% off if they simply used their Lowe's charge card.

When I got mine they were built to order, but if I remember correctly I got it in about 9 days (Monday of the following week) because I ordered it on a Saturday. People ordering Thursday got it in 5-6 days, it was shipped FedEx.

Lowes did horor their $50 off $250 on accerrories and my wife used a different coupon on some other accessories. Plus if you have a Lowes credit card you get an extra discount plus interest free for some period.
