Dedicating a 10ER as drill press

Post by rdewinter »

I want to dedicate my 10 ER in a drill press mode. I built this table for the 10 ER as a full scale working machine. I would like to reduce the footprint to be long enough to hold the ER in a drill press mode. My concern is weather this is stable enough to support such a heavy machine. My shop is rather small so I want to make each square foot as efficient as possible.

Has anyone tried this? Any suggestions?

A lot of guys have done this and it works fine. The main thing they all did was attach the whole thing to the wall. If you go to the ER group there are several pictures of how this is done and works great. I am cleaning up one one to set up the same way as my dedicated drill press.
Thanks
Bill :)

I would add "X" bracing on each end and the back just to make sure the legs do not move.
