Table Slides on way tubes

Post by dcottrill »

After cleaning the SS and waxing the table now slides the best it ever has on the way tubes, but now it slides when drilling in both horizontal and vertical positions.

Do I need to tighten up the mechanism that clamps the table carriage?

How tight should I make it?

Yes, tighten it. How tight. Enough so it doesn't slide.

And NOT tight enough to collapse the tubes.

Turn the lock handle until it is tight and then about 1/3 of a turn further. If that does not secure it, check your wedges. They should be smooth.

Same goes for headstock locks.
