rwilabee, never really thought about the bolt diameter being an issue but unfortunately I have had some bad catches and it never has been a problem. Total weight of the Shopsmith has been an issue when turning larger pieces. You can find a lot of threads dealing with weight and solutions. I made the under cabinet storage which has added a lot of stability to my lathe setup.
