The one on the left is actually a scroll saw insert. Though it shares the same outside diameter as the bandsaw table and, therefore, fits in the opening of the bandsaw.judaspre1982 wrote:I have had my two SS bandsaws with Aluminum tables for a few years now.I just noticed today that I have two different sizes of throat openings on the table insert assemblies.

The smaller throat is 1/2" in length and came from a 1995 model bandsaw s/n 03-31-95.
The larger throat is 1" in length and came from a 1994 model bandsaw s/n 11-08-94.
I have been running a 5/8" blade in the 1994 model since I've owned it.
Today was the first time I ever went to put the 5/8" blade on the 1995 model. That's when I noticed the differences.
Did SS ever sell the larger throat opening insert assembly as an upgrade to use a 5/8" blade? I have all SS brand blades, including 5/8".
Not sure why the 1994 has the larger opening vs the 1995 model.
I like being able to use my 5/8" blade for re-sawing.
Was the standard insert opening changed along the way![]()
I'm glade I have both sizes.
