Where are the Hockey fans?

Post by charlese »

Posted this late Monday night inside of another thread - Thought I'd get at least a sharp reply from one or two Canadians. No strikers, yet.

Who'd of thunk LA would be a Hockey town??? Some of us could only hope so.

8th seeded, beating the top three seeded teams of the Western Conference. Then More! Another low seeded Eastern team (NJ) gave the Kings their best - hardest series. Got to hand it to the Kings! They finally got their names on the cup after 45 years! Their last time being in the finals was 1993.

Also a big thanks to the 12 Canadians on the team.
Octogenarian's have an earned right to be a curmudgeon.

I'm from the Vancouver area... and a life-long Leafs fan (I know, I know, I get used to the disappointment). One local sportscaster says for us to root for L.A. is like rooting for the guy who stole your girl!

It was, by the way, a great series, New Jersey put up a good showing, and good for L.A.

Derek, have the Leaf's considered changing their name to the 'Possums?

As in play dead at home and get killed on the road. ;)

Being a Leafs' fan in Canada is kind of like being a Chicago Cubs fan in the US of A. Vancouver actually DID win a Stanley Cup, in 1915; the Vancouver Millionaires (although I think the title referred to the owners, certainly not the players!). Still, a modern cup would be kind of nice.

There is a rumour that Roberto Luongo will be traded to Toronto. I feel the faint stirring of embers.....
