Hey Ed I know you have more invested in tools then I do in tool boxes, here is why. The collection of tool boxes where they are 2 to a shelf cost me between earlier ones a $2.50 or later $3.00 at the Plano outlet store about 30 min. from where I live. The larger boxes were more but still they work out so well for me it was worth it. Have to say $7 to $11 is still not to bad.
I store stuff any way I can. Boxes, drawers, coffee cans. What you see is only the tip of the iceberg. I like to keep things in boxes and with extra things included. Like my Porter Cable jig saw case has the tool, extra blades, screw driver, and anything else I find useful when I use the tool. It is just how I like to do things.
I have the option of grabbing the tool box or I can do as you do and collect many tools in a bucket. You will have to admit you can do that so easy when things are in a drawer.
Remember the "tackle box" is a "tool box", Plano makes them both and they are different.
I took a few minutes at the end of the day to pull a few random tool boxes and shot some pictures. I think this will give you at least a sample of the storage contents.

Seriously I often buy tools that come in a molded plastic box that I usually throw away. I tend to store stuff in drawers keeping like tools and accessories together.
When I do a job outside the shop I place everything I will need in a five gallon bucket and take that to the job site.
How do you store your things? What exactly do you have in these tackle boxes and how do you use them? What about offsite jobs?
Just curious.
