Mark V Spare Parts

Recently upgraded my 1980's era Mark 5 to a Mark 7. Shopsmith did a good job with the DVD to walk you through the process. Anyone have any idea if there is a market for the parts I replaced? Hate to have them gathering dust when someone could be using them.

Welcome to the forum. I have two sets of those parts for the same reason. I am considering craigs list, Ebay would be another option. Jim

When I did it the market was excellent, I sold everything I did not need through eBay. My experience is people want the parts but selling a whole machine or headstock seems to get little value, I netted over $500 and less than $700 is about 6 separate sales.

I'm not familiar with the upgrade. I have an origional (82) Mk V, what kind of parts are left over?

I also had a 1982 500 but it has been previously upgraded. From what I remember you end up with a motor, power cord, grommet (depending on model), switch, multiple belts, dual or single bearing quill, speed control parts and eccentric. You might also have the speed reducer and increaser.

If you have everything you should be able to get about $700 net after shipping.

Thanks for everyone's response to my question. I did the DIY upgrade to the Power Pro, Table Upgrade and Dual Rail Tilt Mounts. Therefore I ended up with a Mark V motor, Table, Rip Fence, Saw Blade Arbor, Table Saw Guards, Upper Drive Sleeve Assembly, Two-bearing Quill, Base and Arm Assembly. I will probably try Craig's List since I live in Denver and there are some SS owners here.

Was the PP upgrade worth it? I have had this tool for over 30 years and other then belts and a motor overhaul I have not had to put a penny into it. I have renovated three homes, built cabinets, chairs, tables, shelves, fences and just about everything else made out of wood. I debated spending the money but I have not regretted it because a versatile tool is even more versatile for the 60 yr old guy that bought it 35 yrs ago.

Colorado you have a lot more then I did to part out. I am almost in the same place but did it over 30 years little by little. I always sell the leftovers which has make the upgrades very inexpensive.
