Purchasing a Mark 7 at Lowe's

Post by dusty »

Has anyone attempted to order" anything Shopsmith" from a Lowe's during other than those days when a Shopsmith demo is in process?

I spoke with seven people from either Customer Service or the Tool Department while in Lowe's this morning all they all treated me like I had escaped from a state facility of some kind.

Considering my experience with Lowes when I went to the demo. It sort of doesn't surprise me that they really do not support the Shopsmith Product.

Actually, I was curious about other Shopsmith items like Belt Sander, Dust Collector, or a Mark 7. Does Lowe's market these items all the time or only when Shopsmith is doing a demo?

Methinks Lowe's is providing a venue for the Shopsmith traveling medicine show' only.

The sandpaper was a coincidence. I am guessing it did not move fast enough for Lowe's to keep the shelf space committed to it.

3M has far better 'brand loyalty' from the masses.

The last demo I attended it was carefully explained that only the items listed on the printed form could be purchased and that orders would only be honored if placed during the demo period. In fact I purchased an item that would not qualify for the lowes purchase agreement and I was not allowed to use my Lowes card thus lost the discount. This in my mind lessened the value of the demo's. I am a bit uncertain now if I would attend another demo, unless of course they are demoing the new Mark 2013. Jim

Jim, it was explained to me the same way except if you had a military or VA ID you could get an additional 5% off only for the time they were there.

On another issue, the Lowe's employees looked as us as if we were from another planet. The rep who came to Pensacola set up just in front of their table saws, bandsaws, drill presses and mitre saw stands. Hmmm! A light bulb moment - will build something to put my mitre on top of the SS when not using the SS.

So am I to conclude that if I want to purchase a PowerPro or a Dual-Tilt Upgrade Kit, the only way I can get a discount is to wait until there is a Shopsmith at Lowe's. Who knows when they'll get back here again.:(

Oh yeah, I can always pay the full price and order it any time I want.

OR

I can get that RV on the road and then study the Demo Schedule - hunting for someplace with a demo that I want to visit.:)

You can also get discounted pricing if you are invited to one of the webinars...

Better discount than the Lowe's discounts...
