Paul, I don't believe you pay attention when you are out and around. Either that or you never leave the "safe side" of town. Believe me, the really poor do not have cell phones, TVs and other "luxuries" and they are not overweight.

Spend some time in the food kitchens dude -- especially during bad weather. It seems to me as though you lead a real sheltered life.

Homeless is a whole different issue, then "poor". Most homeless will not get health insurance even under ObamaCare. ObamaCare is not about healthcare it is about health insurance.

Poverty in America is defines as making less than $23K per year for a family of 4.

I can't really say where I stand on this because I believe there are a lot more details yet be uncovered and determined with all of this health care reform.

You are obviously better informed about the Affordable Health Care Program than I am. How did you learn about the "mandatory services" that are provided by Affordable Health Care? What are those services?

Yep, I agree. Case in point, the one that is most important to me as I near retirement. The value of my IRA's. Four years ago the S&P was at 6,150. Today it's closing in on 13,000. Most of my retirement income will be coming from my IRA's. I rest my case

I hope you know you rested your case on a house of cards.

4 years ago the S&P was 6150 nearly reflecting the actual value of the stock it represented. Today is is 13,000 nearly 2 1/2 times the value of what the stock actually represents.

If thinks go bust again which I can't see how they won't you may find your retirement is less than 1/3 what it is today. That my friend is what I call a house of cards.

Why do you think the Government is keeping bank deposit dividends so low. To force people into the house of cards called the stock market. It is a ponzi scheme it must be feed or it will collapse.

I have tried to refrain from becoming involved in this thread, but I just have to ask. How many of you realize that "Obama Care" is more about a government power grab than healthcare? IMHO it is one of the biggest frauds ever forced upon the US citizenry disguised as a benefit. Anyone that has taken the time to investigate all aspects of this fiasco knows that it is just one more step toward "socialized medicine" and if you will look at Europe you will see how unworkable it really is.

This poll has been interesting but the summary is confusing.

There have been 68 responders.

The sum total of those that are insured and uninsured is 46 (45 + 1).

Those of us that are on a fixed income total 24 (5 +19).

Those of us that have regular monthly income total 29 (13 + 16).

Extracted Conclusions:

Of the 68 responders, 22 did not indicate whether or not they have medical insurance coverage. (68 - (45 + 1) = 22

Of the 68 responders, 15 do not have a source of income or don't want to talk about it. 68 - (24 + 29) = 53

Of the 68 responders, only 28 believe Affordable Care Plan is a good deal.

Of the 68 responders, only 35 believe Affordable Care Plan is a bad deal.

Of the 68 responders, 5 have not declared it good or bad.

This is by no means a scientific poll or a scientific analysis of the current results but I dare to say that we as a group are conflicted.

That's not surprising seeing as opinions are like a part of the body which everyone has with no two being exactly alike.

On another note, in this group I have seen an undeniable love of this country we live in and a God given willingness on the part of many to serve and protect her in uniform. I, being one of those, salute each and every one who has as well as those who have not and wish you all a very happy 4th of July tomorrow.

May God continue to bless this great country and watch over all of us as we prepare to make perhaps the most important voting decision we will ever make in our lifetimes this November.
