Good to Know....Self Defense

Thanks Gene, I am going to pick up a couple of cans tomorrow. My territory covers most of Southeast Arizona including north and south of Pecks Canyon. Company "policy" will not allow firearms in company vehicles. If I need to go into "shootin alleys", I look for Border Patrol and tell them where I have to go and how long I will be there. If they are not involved with something, they provide escort. A few times they informed me that it would not be a good idea to go there. Ten years ago it was not an issue. Now it is a much different story. I will also pass this on to some co-workers. 2bits

I've very dubious of this claim. I know of nothing in wasp spray that will cause the debilitating effects of the capcacin oil used in self defence sprays. I've been hit in the face numerous times with wasp spray doing extermination work, and never found myself incapacitated.

I'll have to pay closer attention to what goes on around me. I have, in the past, spent a lot of time in that area. I did not realize that it has an area to be concerned about. When Rio Rico was first a developers dream, we nearly purchased property there.

However, I used to work in Nogales, Sonora and I would not do that today.

For whatever it's worth, there is a raft of information on this subject that you can find if you Google "self defense wasp hornet spray"

Simply put, some question the effectiveness of this spray, with others worrying about possible liability issues were one to use the stuff.

The Forest Service lands and ranches west of I-19 have been used by the Coyotes for years. There are utility right of ways with tons of garbage from all the "traffic". As you may recall, Peck Canyon area is where the Border Patrol came under fire and Brian Terry was killed by firearms bought in the Fast and Furious Program (Thank YOU Mr Obama:mad: I have friends that used to be thrilled to get the area for Deer tags. They do not even put in for it any more.
It would appear that the Wasp spray may not work as desired. I think .45ACP has better range anyway:D

"here's a more humane way to wreck someone's evil plans for you"

The time for a humane response is after the threat is removed. If someone is threatening my family with lethal force i have no interest in considering a humane response to stop them. I simply want to stop them. I can appreciate your wasp spray recommendation for those who for what ever reason do not have access to a legally owned firearm, but the suggestion that i should consider a humane response to someone threatening my family is, with all due respect, absurd.

I agree!!!!

BTW A fire arm is is not a device with which to 'threaten' or discourage.(well maybe for a short duration to determine if actually effective and the threat is 'removed')

It should only come out with the serious intention of being used(or cleaned!;)).

Couldn't agree more!
The purpose of posting the letter was first, I thought it was interesting and second, as you observed, there are folks who cannot carry.
As for me, the only spray I'll use on an intruder, or one threatening me and mine, is a spray of lead.
I do like the varmint uses, though.
