[quote="fredsheldon"]I think this thread has generated a good bit of discussion. I'm not sure we have solved anything but it wasn't for the lack of trying:D I will restate what I had said previously, we gave the previous administration 8 years to improve health care and I'm not sure anything really improved but I could be wrong. So how about giving this administration a chance to finish what they started and give them their additional 4 years. Then, if you don't think anything is improved, then kick them out and give a new administration a shot at it. Maybe it's time for a third party to give it a shot. My PowerPro will be arriving in the morning so I will have something else to worry about so this will be my last post on this subject.]

The government has no business getting involved in health-care and even less getting involved in health insurance. The previous administration screwed up Medicare and this administrator made it much worse.

Neither administrator tackled health-care only health insurance which for 85% of Americians was not broken. Now rates are going up, taxes are going up (20 different ways) and the ability to actually see a doctor is going down.

I don't need to wait four more years to recognize the incompetence of this administration. Whether it is job creation, health care, religious freedom, the economy, immigration, or keeping the nations secrets, I think this guy is a one-man wrecking ball.

And I think that every open minded person here realizes that you already decided that long before you ever heard of him...

I'm done with this thread now. Time for it to be put to bed.

I like that. Throw out an accusation about who's open minded and then disappear.

In any event, with today's announcement of jobs and unemployment figures, I'm sure that open minded folks would want to know that since he's been in office there are exactly 927,000 more people working in this country then when he started 41 months ago. That's a great performance, especially when you consider that the pool of potential workers to draw from has expanded by 8,417,000 during that same time period. I wonder what happened to those other 7,490,000 people? My guess is that maybe open minded folks aren't as open minded as they'd like folks to think.

By the way, these numbers come from his own Bureau of Labor Statistics.

I would tend to agree with you, EXCEPT, what is being done is including new taxes, and opening the government’s scope of involvement in Health Care.

We all know taxes are rarely if ever repealed, likewise with government involvement in anything.

So while you are saying let us give this guy 4 more years and if things aren't better let the next guy take a crack at it. The fact say it will be impossible to ever again get to the same starting point to see if perhaps another direction was the better idea.

The problem still remains escalating health care costs. Until something is done to rein them in the solution to the Health care issue will remain the elusive target it has always been. To rein in those costs would require effecting Education, Drug research and manufacture, medical equipment manufacture, hospital costs and payroll, health insurance companies cost and payroll and probably many more factors I haven’t thought of.

But it still comes down to one problem Greed everyone is looking to get more than they have now whether they in reality need it or not.

That word - GREED - gets thrown around here a lot. I even use it TOO MUCH. We must all remember that the good ole American Dream involves having more tomorrow than we and our families had yesterday. Getting more - that's not always greed. I have always considered it to be GETTING AHEAD in this cruel cruel world. SURVIVAL of the fittest. Self Advancement. Success. Where is the line that separates all this from GREED.

If a medical facility fails to succeed, it gets called bankrupcy or poor management. If they succeed, someone here in this thread referred to it as GREED. Can't win for losing.

How many has changed their view after reading this thread? I think I can guess:D

I was often reminded at work when talking politics this is what people hear.

I can't say how many but I modify my opinions on this subject quite often. I must say, however, that I have not yet reversed my opinion and am not likely to do so.

Today's job report did not help and the Administrations' explanations of how it could be worse helps even less.

Then I learn that the Administrations' report that the manufacturing numbers (unemployed in manufacturing) is looking better but not because manufacturing is hiring more. The number is getting better because construction and manufacturing workers are giving up their jobs in the trades to work elsewhere.

Statistics do NOT lie but statisticians...well, that is another story.

Have I changed my overall opinion? No However I have a lot more things that I need to consider.

The real problem absolutely no one seems to fully understand the new plan, at least no one that I'm aware of. And the ones that claim they do know they all have agendas which they are pushing one way or another.

I long for the day when people of integrity either in Congress or in the News would give a fair and impartial appraisal of things like this.

It seems I keep coming back to the old "how do you know when they are lying? and The answer is when you see their lips move."

Family Health Insurance

Post by anncoop »

Having a wife and children is costly. Apart from having to get a bigger place, one also has to give them and get insurance for them in the event they get sick. The yearly survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation discovered that the price of family health insurance is also increasing, though the boost this year was modest when compared with last year.
