On to the question on resolution.
My answer and one I find in most articles on the subject is to go to the highest resolution you can afford.
I know I often see the pixels in screens below 1600X900.
I also see flicker in CRT's and LCD screens with a refresh rate lower than 70hz. I have never seen flicker in a LED screen.
I love the new IMAC, some of the Power Books and the new AirBooks because of their high res screens. To match their resolution on a 24 inch screen it would cost me $1000 or more.
I think this is often why people complain Apple products cost so much more than PC's they never consider cost of a PC screen of equal or better resolution.
The mag Laptop recommends that no one buy a 15.6 or bigger screen on a laptop without 1920x1080 resolution.
