Design question
I want to build a wall mount to hold a hook (to which elastic bands will attach for purposes of exercising). The height of the hook needs to be adjustable (from the floor to chest high), and I need to be able to change the hook so that it can point either up or down. I new to woodworking, and design is not my long suit. Any suggestions? Thanks, Hank
I never seem to get my solution built but here is the premise. Purchase a wood railing from a big box store. Make a series of spacers or notch a thin board and glue it to the flat side of the railing. Then counter sink four or five screws or bolts to attach the railing to a wall, Using spacers to create a space allowing movement between railing and wall, (preferably mounting to a stud) Then one has a strap mount which allows any height desired to be used. Currently I have an an elliptical machine with the handle bar the height I desire. I place the stretchy strap around that pole and use a rubber band to keep it from slipping. Works great. If I've understood your need, this might work. Take a 2x4 or something similar and cut a groove (with a dado set) to accept a "T" track. Screw the "T" track into the groove. Mount unit to wall. Get and eye-bolt and a nut that fits the "T" track and eye-bolt. You should be able to move the eye-bolt anywhere along the length and re-tighten at the needed height and exercise to your hearts content.
