I worked nearly all of my like as a grunt. I have never had a big car, I live in a modest 1700 sq foot home, I have never done drugs and my social problems are within the family unit. I don't seem to fit in your idea of what this country is all about.
The question was asked when is enough profit enough? I answered that as long as people want more they will never have enough profit. I went on the explain how most people judge or value people today.
Yes you and me and many others on the forum have different values but go talk to a 30 year old up and coming exec and see how he values people. It won't be on their family, nor will it be ethics. What he will judge their success by is how much they make, their job title, where they live, what kind of car do they drive, and in many instances what drugs they use.
Dusty you and I were successes in that we raised our family, gave them a secure house and food on the table. But in today's world success is judged not on these values but rather on how much money you got.
I deal with kids that have seen drug lords shot and died lying in the street and you know what they say when I say you don't want to be like him. They say why not? He had all kinds of money, big cars, everyone knew him, had lots of women, and if he didn't like you he would kill you. Why yes I want to be just like him only I won't be so stupid to get shot by some stupid 5 cent shooter that was trying to make a rep by shooting me. That is real world down and dirty and even in modern suburbs the thinking is the same. I talked to a young man with a beautiful wife and gorgeous children, they were getting a divorce and neither really wanted the kids. He said his goal is to make as much money as I can and to live large so everyone knows I making the money.
