How difficult is motor replacement?
Also I realize I may not even need to replace the motor as the power cord is messed up and have I not even looked inside the headstock to see if there are any problems in there. Just wondering about the motor if it comes to that.

OK Be careful!! Just remember that full line voltage is on the switch terminals when the power cord is plugged in to the wall outlet. Never put your hands inside the headstock with the machine plugged in. You said that when you turn the switch on nothing happens. Does it hum? If it does do not let it do that for more than a second as permanent damage will occur. If it does NOT hum then you have a different set of circumstances. Hum means that you are getting power to the motor. No hum means one or more of the following;
Bad power cord or plug
Bad switch.
Wires dislodged from the switch.
Other broken wires inside the power cord.
If it is a GE motor the wires from the switch to the motor windings may have deteriorated. A common problem with the GE motors

Open motor windings. (the least probable but possible)
At any rate "Good Luck" and come back when you have any questions.

No hum at all. There is definitely power go to the outlet because as soon as I switched to off, I pluged a light in to the same socket and it came on. Probably won't get to it today, but soon I will be taking the head stock off to clean it and will take a look at all the wiring inside. For starters I definitely have a bad power cord as shown in previous photos, and will proceed from there. My wife's cousin is also an electrician, and does alot of side work for us at the "family discount". May have him come by as I usually do not mess with electricity.
