Used Jointer Auxiliary Fence Bolt Holes don't line up with my SS jointer fence holes.

Post by jcritch »

Bought a used SS Jointer Auxiliary Fence and the bolt holes for mounting it to the cast iron SS jointer fence don't line up.

There only seems to be one model of this fence.

I can use either the front hole (left) or the rear hole (right) to mount it to the fence.

Any idea why?

Probably due to the age of the jointer. Aux fence came later. Bore a new hole in the Aux fence.

Right. another hole. But thought there might be a different version or some other explanation.

If you have Mark 5 of a '500/510', the holes align with holes in the rip fence. Using the aux fence with the jointer was an 'after thought'. Also IIRC there are different jointer fence hole versions.
