I wanted to post the pictures of the final product before I started in on my new project.

This is the headstock. It's not the original red A casting. That is now in the hands of one of our members. He did not tell me whether he was going to repaint it or not. This is a B casting I got off eBay. This is not the original speed control dial. It had a casting fault on its back side.

These are the legs. They are the originals after sandblasting and painting.

I used Rustoleum's Hammered Gray paint. This is a close up of the headstock.

Because of my next project I will convert this to a shortie or minnie.

This is my next project. It will become my dedicated drill press.

Although its next destination(function in life) is unknown at this time, it will definitely NOT retain its current color or paint.

P.S. Could you use an upper belt cover for the 10ER? Just ask!

What a beautiful machine! That is the first hammered gray paint job I have seen and I really, really like it! Wow! A real beauty. Thanks for sharing - have fun and work safe! Alec

I forgot to mention that I converted to a poly drive, installed new drive bearings, and had new bearings installed and bad wire insulation repaired on the motor. This latter was about $140. Also put on bigger wheels (not SS)(rolls really nicely). Things appear OK except for a short ratchet sound when I turn it off. Oh, and I installed a new power switch (Bill Mayo's recommended model).

I was toying with converting my motor to a reversible until someone pointed out the motor shaft spring keeper on it could spin right off while running (LOOK OUT!).

Likely not to worry

. If you watch official Shopsmith "Sawdust Sessions" on YouTube, etc., you can hear this sound on a new machine. I think it's a matter of a transient condition during shut-off. Upper (Poly V) belt then is tight while the lower (motor) belt is relaxing. This puts a slight uneven pressure on the idler bearing which then knocks.
I used to have this noise in my newer machine before I went Power Pro.
