Woohoo! Upgrades!

I've got a lot going on lately...

It all started when I was stupid and caused my bandsaw to throw a blade and a tire...

Replaced the tires, and since it was a package deal, the bearings at the same time. But while I was on the Shopsmith site looking for that stuff...

...I got interested in the PowerPro upgrade...

...and thinking about the thickness planer I'd always wanted but never got...

...so I started looking on eBay and Craigslist for a planer, and found one near me for $400. Got that back home! It was missing two of the angle braces in the support table, so I ordered those, and a knife setting gauge. While I was there, I got an email about a bandsaw accessory sale...

...so I added a new bandsaw cover, with the nifty tension indicator window, and some new blades...

...and then Doug Reid sent me an email inviting me to a PowerPro webinar, and I knew from you guys that you can get discounts at those, so...

...now I have planer parts, and bandsaw parts, and a DIY PowerPro upgrade, dual tilt table, and big orange casters, all on the way.

Sigh...now I'm gonna have to disassemble and realign EVERYTHING. :eek: It's a good thing I like doing that. :D

Well congratulations Videobear ...
With that name on this forum, does this mean that you will be posting a video on youtube or photos on the forum of all this ... or both.
Remember the saying here on this forum, if there is not any photos, it did not happened !

Congratulations! I have had my PowerPro DIY installed for 1 1/2 yrs now. Outstanding upgrade to the Mark V. You will enjoy all!!

I went to Lowes demo 8/23/12 ordered PP diy, double tilt, lift assist, and more.
I got the PP on 8/28/12 Five days later WOW but still waiting on double tilt.
The PP upgrade requires it to be on the way tubes to install motor.
So I'm waiting for that to arrive my vacation is over so time is a problem now.

Waiting for the upgrade you may want to paint the headstock that hepls the time pass.
There is one other thing you could do file out a ¾" hole for the power cord strain relief.
Here's a screenshot from the DVD video that comes with the upgrade.
They have you cut out the ¾" circle in the template shown here in top left of picture.
center it above motor mounting hole trace and file it out.
Make sure you do the proper hole and save the last bit till you have the new strain relief in hand.

One week later I was rebuilding one...
Four months later I owned two....
Ok Ok, I'm up to four now...

If you have a step drill you can skip all the filing and be done in say 10 or 15 seconds. Don't have one or a set then this would be a good time to add them to your collection... and don't say "oh they are too expensive" we all know how much was just invested in the upgrade.

Maybe a bit late now for some of you but I'd still add them to your tool list.

Well isn't that fantastic. I myself will use my large supply of Shopsmith blades.

In fact, I will never buy from Sawblade.com since they have zero ethics by coming here and signing up for multiple accounts and posting links to their site along with fake reviews. But to each is their own.

OK the video provided by shopsmith kinda says not to use a step drill.
I did not want to suggest to anyone to do differently if they screwed it up
then got a video saying not to do it that way..... then I'm the A%%#LE

I used a diamond wheel myself it was a snap.
