Children's Corner at Lowe's

Post by swampgator »

I don't know if this happens at all Lowe's or just one in a town/city. Learned one day last week when exiting the store, a poster was on the exit door advertising of the children's projects every other Saturday at 9 am. This is a free service, free project, free apron, certificate and iron on patch. The provide the space, table, goggles and hammer.

My son went to a couple of them when he was younger. Lowes donated some of them for our Cub Scout Day Camp this year.

I've seen the note at one store locally. Of course, the Lowes are far and few around here. Looks like the projects are ornaments, bird houses and little things. I'm sure my daugher would live to do them, just don't want to drive a half hour to go to the store.

The projects are small and something children from age two and up can handle with ease. The kit comes with parts and decals, nail, predrilled holes for the nails. This is a project with parts that must be assembled in order, logical thinking, learning to hold while assembling and nailing and if decals are involved, you must hold them the correct way to put them on. There was a thread sometime back about training children in this art. This is that opportunity and all the children I saw this past week really enjoyed themselves if the parents would stay out of the way to allow the children do the projects. The firetruck project this past weekend had seperate wheels, axles, bottom piece, top piece, sides, ladder holders, ladder and light block on which to install decals after assembly.
