Pro Planer Power Control

Post by dsimcoe54 »

I have recently aquired a Pro Planer free standing unit and the DC output from the control module to the drive motor has no output. I checked the unit out and found that the variable speed adjustment has no output to the diode.
Shopsmith wants $288.47 for a new power module but I have a problem with this since after looking inside of this module it contains, at best $30 to $40 worth of parts. Does anyone in this forum know where I can find a module for less that $288.47?

Welcome to the real world. I have a Motor control unit for my submerged well motor. It contains a $7 capacitor and $10 relay and sells for $70 bucks wholesale. I have found a place to buy the capacitor for $7 (which in my opinion is still grossly over priced) but I can't find the relay.

Anything electronic, connected with air conditioning or water well/softners or automatic transmissions are grossly over priced. Most people don't understand how they work so they are willing to pay $$ for the magic to occur.

You may consider going to radio shack picking up a circuit board and the components and try making one. There are hundreds of schematics for AC to DC variable speed controllers. However you will probably spend $288 before you get it the way you want it.

Buck up put a smile on your face and bite the bullet, heck it is only money.

ImageHi dsimcoe54,
I do not know how much success you will have, but it might be worth trying to have a TV repair shop repair it. They can test each component and might be able to replace the bad parts.

BTW, what part of the world do you hail from?
