1963 Mark V Greenie saw guard ? (newbie)

Post by gourash »

Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a 1963 Mark 5 and have learned much from this forum.

one thing i did figure out on my own is that the table saw scares me to death since there is no lower or upper guard on it and i can envision bad things happening.

I came across this on ebay and was wondering if this is what i need to prevent something nasty happening.

Notice that there are several bidders. This part will sell for much more than the current high bid.

I'm thinking I should bid just in case I someday end up with a 500.:D

Yes, I think that is what you need but wait until a greenie owner tells you that.

Yes it will work on your machine. It is the latest (and probably last) upgraded saw guard system for all Mark 5 and Mark V model 500's. Some drilling and tapping is required to install the system.

Edit: Looking at the auction closer, I do not see the female dovetailed mounting piece that goes on the table support to hold the upper guard and the mounting hardware. Here is everything that is supposed to be in the upgrade. The piece I do not see is in the upper left of the linked picture.

I have a few pieces from at least 6 different saw guard systems used on the Mark V 500. As would be the case, I do not believe I have a complete set for any of these saw guard systems. I have been unable to do a mix and match with what I have. If you have any pictures of what 500 saw guard system parts you have, I may be able to supply one or two parts to complete your saw guard system. I have no use for what I have if interested.

Now that you know what a new one costs - decide how much you are willing to spend and go put in your bid.
