Eagle setting in a birch tree

Notice how the birch bark sort of looks like snow on this branch. Oh yea there is an Eagle sitting there too. We are about 50 feet away, not so sure why I was able to get this close but I took advantage of it and got this shot. Of course it was late in the day and very overcast so the shot is not as great as I would have liked. Shot in northern WI.

It's always nice to watch eagles. It's even better to get close. That's a great shot. Where abouts in WI? Just wondering how close you were to me.

Hi Tom,

This picture is from the same area as the white deer, Boulder Junction. It use to be about 90 miles north of you but they have redone so many roads over the years I'm sure it is less than that now.

That's about an hour north of our summer place. My wife likes to eat at Little Bohemia once in the summer if we can, so I get close, but haven't really taken any time to explore. Getting to be time to close things up for winter.

Great picture, Ed. You got close because animals recognize your innate goodness.
I truly believe that animals can sense non-threatening situations.
Of course, some use that to their advantage, depending on their state of hunger.

[ATTACH]18907[/ATTACH]That is great. I have an eagle's nest a couple of hundred yards down the river from me. I have watched this pair raise probably 25 or 30 babies over the last 20 years. It is fascinating to watch the ritual. Here is a picture of daddy and the 3 babies just after they climbed from the nest to the branch next to their nest. They hadn't started to fly yet.
