Table-Raiser

Has everyone seen the [font=Times New Roman","serif]Table-Raiser, [/font]I have been waiting for this for some time. I plan on using it with acme threaded rod to control raising the lowering the table precisely.

Sorry for the crazy fonts, another Windows 8 bug. If you paste something you can't set the font back to verdana.

I see it here but I have difficulty imagining what it does for me that I need. With it installed, I would have to push the table down. Without it, gravity will pull the table down. Is that the difference?

The idea of a threaded rod to precisely control the movement I totally understand though I don't have much use for that. I hardy ever have to move my table height in the drill press mode.

If there is great utility in these two ideas, someone please explain. I just might be missing something.

Gee! A lift assist for the table.

One more gadget to get in the way.

JMHO - I do not need the lift assist either - 1,2,3,4 - - - Counting my lucky stars!;)

Looking forward to someone's review in the future....

I wonder if it helps to counteract the tendency for my 510 table to "creep down" sometimes during drill-press operations?

I can see some great benefit from that to a SS dedicated as a drill press. Going back and forth from vertical to horizontal functions, I think it would just get in the way. I'd love to see this adapted to the 10ER. I'm still young and strong enough that I can manage raising and lowering the table on my 10ER dedicated drill press, but that thing is a lot heavier than my 500 table.

I believe it has a quick release mount at both ends, you just pop it in and out as needed

Can anyone tell me how the weight of a 510/520 carriage and table compares to a 10ER?

The rod is for horizontal movement for the lathe, the drill press table was too heavy without this. Also my connection was very temporary, but I think I will be able to use the design to improve the connection and make it quick release.

As for the Shopsmith lift many times I change bits and moving the table is difficult for me.

I believe the 520 table is 47 pounds more with my drill press vise, the 500 is about 27, I know nothing about the 10ER.
