Along with the SS I inherited from my stepfather, I got a jointer.
I got a new SS PP and wanted to see about using the jointer, so I put in on the SS and noticed that the fence would lock to 90 degrees, but would NOT lock left-right meaning that the fence would slide, exposing the blades further.
I took pics of the jointer and am hoping someone can help me out.

Since you asked, what is missing. First off - blade guard. I highly recommend locating that or purchasing a replacement.
As for locking the left right adjustment of the fence. The locking handle has 2 positions. Pull out to adjust the angle of the fence. Push in to adjust left right. (or perhaps reverse that, I can never remember.) The middle is disconnected from both settings.
I had the same problem with mine until someone on here pointed it out to me. If pushing in or pulling out on the locking handle does not do the trick, then there may be a missing part on the inside of the locking handle.

Thanks for the quick response. Never would have imagined the single handle managed both locking functions. Now I can lock it!
As for the blade guard, I was aware it was missing...just haven't had time to look for a replacement. Wanted to see about the locking issue first.
Thanks again!

As Terry said, ya NEED this.

While waiting for that to come in, clean up and wax the jointer.
Be careful tightening the fence or you'll need item "F" here.

I second that - don't skimp to save a few $$ and instead buy the upgraded feather guard - your fingers will thank you, not to mention it will hold stock against the fence better as you use it.wa2crk wrote:Team TJ
The E-Bay item would probably work but I HIGHLY recommend the upgrade kit from SS mentioned in a previous post (Beeg)
