It be a good idea to check the top width of the motor belt occasionally. It starts out slightly wider than a half inch. As it wears, it gets narrower and narrower. When extremely worn, it can slip down too far between the sheaves and 'get stuck/jammed'. This is more likely to happen at high rpm
(idler pulley), but can also happen at very slow speeds(motor pulley). Rubber rubbing on metal indicates a slipping belt on pulley.

It takes a long time or a lot of slipping to wear it down to that point(all else being 'normal').

Motor humming indicates a stalled drive train, or start circuit problems if the drive train is ok.

What do you mean by a Harbor Freight Link Belt?

That link-belt from HF will make 2 belts. Use a 20% off coupon,too.

It does run smoother and quieter.
