Reminder to be careful out there

Post by kalynzoo »

Last night I destroyed the tip of my push stick while running some daddo cuts. I'm fine, just reminded not to let my mind wonder doing repetitive cuts.
Enough said, just a reminder to all.

You bet, Gary! We all need a reminder once and a while. I can almost feel the rush in your head as you felt the buzz in your pushing hand. Been there and don't like it.

Yes, be save! Good reminder.

3 week ago I got the tips of 2 fingers into belt sander with 100 grit belt because I 1) let wood get thinner than I realized and 2) was in the danger zone with hands. Maybe a 1/10 of second - no blood, but close. It did remove a few layers and scabbed over later. I had to reread warnings to find out I was in danger zone. I was lucky, I had just changed from 60 grit belt.

The gap between the sander table and the belt should NOT be big enough to permit fingers to enter!!

Actually I was thinking of thin workpieces!;)

And not so much actually getting fingers 'in' the gap, but getting them near it.

If the gap will not 'let a finger in', it can trap it upon 'attempted entry'.

Bottom line stay away! Fingers or small workpieces.
