They (Rockler) do have the lower grits.
The higher grits that are on sale are in the close out section.

My sanding disc has the velcro "upgrade" so I'm not sure how the non-velcro discs are attached these days? Back in the day when my machine was new, they were glues to the disc - is this still the case? I still even have my original can of glue that came with the machine in '79...I shook it the other day and it was still a liquid, which surprised me it hadn't hardened up over the years.

Today, they use PSA -- pressure sensitive adhesive -- to bond the sand paper to the sanding disks.

Rockler currently has free shipping on order of $39 or more.

But how do I clean and old disc? Took old sandpaper off an old disc with a heat gun and got 99% off. Some sticky stuff left. Do I sand it? Wire brush it? Chemicals? What kind? Tried alcohol and nada. Will try paint thinner but don't want to ruin it for the velcro I am going to put on it. Any ideas?

NEVER MIND. A few minutes with paint thinner and a toothbrush!
Unfortunately I used a paint scraper prior, so I will use the new disc with the velcro and this one for sharpening chisels and sanding as usual.
This is still a great forum even because it let's bozos like me on to ask ALL kinds of questions!

Why wood it make a difference of which disk ya use for the Velcro disk? You do know that ya shouldn't use the Velcro backed disks for sharpening?
