Nope. This forum is sponsored and paid for by Shopsmith and they are primarily interested in selling new equipment (that is their reason for existence after all) and they have a web site just for that (shopsmith.com). This site was set-up by them for the purpose of allowing owners to share tips, techniques, and ideas amongst ourselves.

I think most of us try not to bite the hand that feeds us, or at least our addiction. Besides Craigslist, EBay and whatever that site is that is the Canadian equivalent - kiijjiji? Do a good job for selling used equipment.

Shopsmith had some hard times about 5 years ago, so we are reminded that sometimes you may pay a little more to buy from them, but that is what it takes so that you can buy from them. They have done a pretty good job at bringing new items other market since then - the Powerpro, double tilt upgrade, now a keyless chuck. I'm sure I missed a few things in that list.

I totally agree with the previous comments. This is the Shopsmith sponsored vehicle to create valuable discussion of how to use, repair and make Shopsmith tools all they can be for us, the end users. Setting up a sales portion of this tool would cheapen the forum and Shopsmith. I vote selling does not fit in any way shape or form. In fact not even Shopsmith uses this forum to market goods. Jim

Back when we ALL signed on to this Shopsmith Forum we first had to agree to their terms of use, among which was a promise not to sell Shopsmith equipment using this forum.

Frankly, I have been surprised that lately there have been quite a few purchasing references for small parts to sources other than Shopsmith. Why, when there is a need for repair parts for our machines, do we first think of going to another source. All parts for a Mark V can be purchased from Shopsmith!

If we bought a Mark V from Shopsmith and a part breaks, it is only wise to first call Shopsmith to find if that part is covered by warranty. Then ask the price along with shipping. (I have recently received small parts in a padded envelope, via USPS.)

For one, I wish to never do harm to Shopsmith as I want them to succeed in business for another long time.

I agree, a new machine was well beyond my budget, so I purchased a craigslist machine. I have since then purchased all my accessories, right down to the saw blades from ShopSmith and will continue to do so. I too wish to see them be sucessful and that will require my purchasing support. They are not a volume dealer so I do not expect to get volume pricing, and I feel the qualitity of the items I have received justify the cost. I have been very surprised there have been no advertising or pushing of accessories on this forum, my hats off to them for that.

there could always be a set up with a used marketplace where a small fee goes to shopsmith as a listing service or something.

in my opinion that would be better than sending people who need parts to ebay or other sites. just my two cents. no offense to shopsmith.

While some of us may agree, this is the way Shopsmith has chosen to do business. They pay the bills, we use the forum.

They simply do not choose to compete is the "used equipment/parts" business and there are at least three or four people who are thankful for that.

I believe Shopsmith has missed the boat (so to speak) but that is the way it is.

No longer true.

If not a current 'production' part.

Goes along with 'survival'.

Speaking of ordering from Shopsmith. I placed an order online for some rubber bandsaw tires, replacement roller bearings for said bandsaw, poly-v belt, and a motor drive belt early last week. Checked the status of my order, and it still indicates that it has yet to be shipped. Is this par for the course? I will be calling Shopsmith today to find out what's going on.
