IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!! hahahahaha

Finally I have it back together again with new power cord, new switch, new poly-v belt, and replaced the worn drive belt with a power twist link belt from the local Woodcraft store. The speed changer moves a little tight but does not really catch or hang up, and it seems to be more of an issue when the speed slows down. Before I put the belts on, the floating sheaves on both shafts slid easily. Also I assembled the speed control to include hooking it up to the spring on the idle shaft with no belt. Speed control dial worked with no issue or tightness, so thinking maybe it is the "can't get any more brand new than this" brand new belt.

I only got the speed up to "Saw" as it is loud and it was 8:30pm.

The speed control knob resists more when 'slowing down'. That is because the quadrant gear is pressing the control sheave which squeezes the motor belt. The floating sheave must respond by opening so the squeeze is 'relieved'. I have no experience with the link belt, but I imagine it would cause a longer delay in the floating sheave responding. That delay will be felt in the control dial.

One question - Did you perform a high speed adjustment?

As for high speed adjustment, I watched the Sawdust Session video where Nick changes the speed controller, and does the adjustment while I installed my controller. So it was like Nick was right there in the shop with me. I am just about there, but since I am using a link belt I have sent Bill Mayo a message with some questions.

Perhaps the link belt is wearing in.
