Hi guys...
I just wanted to share with all of ya...I finally got lucky :-)
I just scored a ss jointer that is reported to be less than 10 years old... knives are in good shape but one of them could use some honing....
I bought it from a great fellow ss lover... after we made the deal for the jointer he says "I have this box of stuff you can have if you want it"... it was all of the items he replaced when he upgraded from his 500 to a 520. I love dealing with fellow shopsmith folks!
I though his $50 asking price was an excellent deal...
Can anyone let me know how to verify its age?
Thanks,
Geo

Compare the jointer serial# against the chart on this page and you'll know how old it is:

For the most part they've remained unchanged over the years, although if yours doesn't have it, the upgraded feather guard is a definitely a worthwhile upgrade to get:

I just installed the auxiliary fence kit w/two feather boards on my jointer today but haven't had a chance to try it out yet:

Add DC chute etc. A jointer"(or planer)knows no equal in the creation of debris.dgale wrote:Compare the jointer serial# against the chart on this page and you'll know how old it is:
