I have no doubt that you are right but it is still fun to think about.

I guess I will be getting a stop tracking program, as I don't want them thumb sucking bed wetting commies knowing what sites I visit.

For me, it's just the principle of the thing.
If we use cable or a satellite service for TV, I'd imagine someone is collecting that data also. Same with credit card usage and grocery rewards programs.
Just denying access to what I can makes me feel a little better.

Call me uninformed, but why not just turn on the pop up blocker available on Google? It's one of the standard tools. It either works, of I just don't go to sites that have pop ups.

Ed, I agree with you about that "smiling" site.

Popups are a completely different animal than trackers.

Fwiw, I've never seen a tracking blocker that would block them all. These are usually cookies installed in your pc. You can think of them as being like ticks. One or two usually don't cause a problem. Get a couple hundred, and your PC becomes sick, just like your dog would. Things run slow, programs fail to load, etc.

I'll use various blockers and cleaners to remove the tracking cookies from a pc. Each will pick up something the other missed. But even at their best, the PC will not be as clean and quick as when it was new.

Almost every tracking cookie is marketing. You will not be blocking USG tracking, which is usually done externally of your PC.

When I logged on this morning, one of the first things I noticed was a number of advertisements for RV trailer axle parts. Isn't that strange and convenient.

Just yesterday I was browsing in search of parts for new brakes and maybe new axles for a 1967 19' Aristocrat travel trailer that I am thinking about restoring.

I'd be willing to bet that none of you are inundated with those same ads even if you use the same browser as I do. I wonder why.

I get the feeling that resistance is futile. If you jump in the pool you're gonna get wet.
