Stumpy The Short-Legged Reindeer

Post by heathicus »

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer, and Vixen.. Comet, and Cupid, and Donner and Blitzen.. But do you recall... The shortest legged reindeer of all?

Stumpy, The Short Legged Reindeer began as a piece of scrap cypress. And he wasn't supposed to be short legged. I was following a plan I found online (I think at woodgears) and cut him on the bandsaw. A crack in the wood that I hadn't noticed rendered him crippled with two short legs. I was briefly annoyed, then decided to cut the other two legs to match.

I thought it was actually kind of cute, so brought him inside and introduced him to the family. They fell in love with him so we decided to keep him and add him to the Christmas table

Very nice. Had not heard of Stumpy before but I do know about Rudolph's brother, Randolph the brown nosed reindeer.
He can run as fast as Rudolph, but he doesn't stop as quick.:)

Love the reindeer, but the story is great. He makes a wonderful addition to any christmas decorations...
I keep finding little windows on this forum, that I don't really know what they do. So sometimes I experiment. Probably shouldn't do that, I know in my shop it can get me into trouble.
