I did little to no research on this subject but I believe that this link could give some clues as to what the law actually says. This does not mean, however, that the law is followed everywhere or by everyone.
Notice that youth under the age of 14 cannot be employed in a job that uses power tools. What about farm kids?
Right To Work Laws

A couple of years ago, there was a lot of controversy over child labor on farms in New Jersey when their Legislature was in session. Currently, the child labor laws state that kids under the age of 12 years cannot legally operate equipment with greater than 10 horsepower and they cannot attach/detach implements. I don't remember seeing any mention about power tools though. The controversy in New Jersey was they wanted to increase the minimum age in that state to 14 which farm families thought would be a hindrance to their operations. I never did hear about what was decided or whatever became of that bill.

Prior to the passage of the Right to Work law in Michigan, you could indeed choose not to join the union when hired into a union represented job, but were still required to pay the bulk of union dues and abide by union rules.
Technicially, dues would be reduced by the amount the union claimed was being used for policial purpose and you only paid the portion used to negotiate and represent you. In reality, the discount was token only. Only a fool would opt out of paying the full dues, for fear of retribution from the union.

Ah yes the biggie has been well stated. "Retribution!" What if we could live in a society where all could be allowed their beliefs and opinions without worry of being attacked by others. In this the season when we all in one fashion or another celebrate a holiday call Christmas or Hanuka or what ever one calls the reason, wouldn't it be great if we could all pray for peace and prosperity for all of mankind.
