Yea, I've been watching that auction for a few days now. Maryland is way too far from Wisconsin though, which would had $500+ to the purchase price for me. Instead, I've been acquiring 510 components that are in very good or "like new" shape, and will build one from parts. I've got just about everything I need short of the 510 table system--although I did buy the table saw fence.

But this 520 looked like a very good deal though, if someone was close enough to go get it economically.

$1600 opening bid/$1800 buy it now prices for a 520 with no SPTs does not qualify as low dollars in my book. I'd say that's a the high end of what's reasonable.

If it was just across the street from me, I would go over to check - just in case he was having second thoughts about "getting real".

I would invite him to give me a call when he received no offers.

A 510 Shopsmith for $200? I saw that CL guy's post there. He is either on drugs, or using the Jedi Mind Trick:

"Your Mark V 510 is only worth $200. You WANT to sell me your 510 for $200. You don't believe it's worth more than that."

I don't know if this 520 on eBay is worth $1600, but being unused it's certainly worth more than $500-800. I guess it boils down to it being worth whatever someone will pay for it. Apparently that ain't $1799...not yet anyway.

Yes, somewhat underpriced probably so he gets a good deal, but the top end pricing isn't too far off of what I would consider fair pricing. Besides considering the care some of these machines get and the missing accesories.

Too much of CL is filled with $1500 Greenies and $3000 Mark Vs from the 1980s. They never sell and sit on for months on end being relisted. I made an offer for a $550 Mark V from the early 80s with a bandsaw that I know sold in the end for less than $200
