This is an extension table/fence for my band saw that I made. My goal is to resaw lumber. I cannot believe how much time I spent on this simple device. I probably save money compared with buying a fence from Shopsmith or another manufacturer, but I probably paid myself about fifty cents an hour. Got the idea from a Nick Engler woodworking book that came when I bought my unit used about a year ago.

Here you see some details of the fence and Kreg Mini-trak that I used. I used about 45 inches of trak. I originally made my own t-trak using hard board, but before I tried it, I aborted and went with the Kreg Product. I think it would have been functional, too tight and not as smooth.

It takes thirty seconds to remove/attach the extension. I just remove the wing nut and slider her off.

This shot shows the mounts. I had to tap a few holes to fit the bolts. This was a new task for me, and went pretty well.

Here is a shot of the extension table removed. There is no feature underneath that is noteworthy. Not worth a photo. It just sits on top of the mounts in the previous photo.

I do not want to show this shot of the underside of the table...the ugly hidden side. It is pretty sloppy looking. I place a high value on beauty, and it is lacking here. The hard part was getting the mounts EXACTLY the right altitude so that the extension table sits EXACTLY on the same plane as the Shopsmith bandsaw table. I used micrometers, and calipers and measured to the thousandths to get it right. You will see where I even used folded paper to get it just right. Like I said, it is sloppy looking, but I like the results.

The extension table just sits on a cleat. The cleat is shown here is made out of 1/2 inch birch plywood and is positioned below the main table, extending out to the right. The top of the cleat is below the bandsaw table the same thickness of my extension table.
