DC-3300 Thein Baffle?

DC-3300 Thein Baffle?
OK gang, my 'soon to be mine' 510 also comes with a DC-3300. I've been reading up on the company site, and it looks as if a bigger bag is in order, but I wonder too if a Thein Baffle would help the efficiency of the DC as well. Anyone have a DC-3300 and a Thein? Got Pictures? (I'm a very visual learner...)
and... silly me, a quick search for thein baffle ,netted this thread and one other back in August. I'm lucky enough to live about 25 minutes from the Oneida guys, and I'll be in touch with them for a Dust Deputy, as well as building a Thein Separator for my DC-3300.

I'd go with the Dust Deputy. It never ceases to amaze me how much that little guy can capture. The only drawback I know of is that it has to be emptied often because of the small size. If I wasn't so cheap and lazy, I'd put it on a larger bucket. Well worth it.

Ed,
it is a baffle which when added to a DC and/or shop vac which creates a vortex which allows the majority of the large chips to pass through/by the bag which then collects only the 'fine' dust.

Hmmm, sounds like a high tech dust deputy. I like my DC3300 so well for saw dust pick up I have never bothered to assemble the dust deputy I acquired a few years ago. Perhaps it is time I list it on craigs list. JimNed B_CNY wrote:Ed,

I have no experience with a thein 'separator', but do with the dust deputy.
I doubt(opinion!) there is any advantage to having both connected simultaneously.
The Dust Deputy works quite well with the DC3300.
It is not limited to use only on a 5 gal bucket. I have Mine mounted on an old 16 gal shop vac drum/top.
My only gripe is the Dust Deputy inlet fits 'inside' the 2" hose and catches debris which dumps when hose is removed with no airflow.

Large dust hood doesn't need a vortex addition
I went from the standard - small size dust hood to the medium sized and was very pleased with the increased air flow. Lately, I changed to the large dust hood and was wowed with the yet increased air flow. The dust pickup with the large hood has been enhanced quite a bit. No measurements - just observations.
Concerning dust buildup inside the hood - the larger hood is much easier to shake the stuff loose than either of the smaller hoods. There is even a zipper fly (about 10" long) on the large hood. I supposed I could reach in there with a scraper and actually scrape down the walls of the hood. Haven't done that but am thinking of opening the zipper a peering inside.
