Traveling Acadamy

Post by mbuongirno »

How do I find out where the traveling acadamy will be? I know where the search page is, but it doesn't show any classes in my area. What I want to know is how to find out ALL the places it will be this year so I can decide if one is "close enough".

Traveling Academy

I don't think you'll find this information all neatly packaged for you.

I would recommend that you determine how far you are willing to travel for this affair and then call Shopsmith Customer Service.

If willing to travel say 350 miles, ask them when and where an Academy is scheduled anywhere within 350 miles of your location. You can take this approach online. The online service will give you classes within 350 miles of a ZIP code. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/travelingacademy/register.htm

The fine people in Customer Service (1-800-543-7586) will be able to tell you.

The only other way that I know of is to do a state by state search. Good luck.

Everyone who is seriously interested in attending classes should do this. That is the only way Shopsmith can tell just how interested the user community is.

Yes I want to go to another one. Now that I attended one I realize I should have signed up for all three at the same time in stead of the last one. I missed a bunch and did not realize how personal training really worked. Now I do and I want more. And Dusty is right if we don't let customer service know we want it they don't know where to schedule the next one. Ricknwood is the instructor maybe he will chime in.

Does anyone know if Spike Mertes is still teaching the classes in the Northeast?

SS had a "big" lay-off which, I believe, included Spike. He is still a forum member and was active on it last month. You could private message him if you want to: http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/member.htm?u=1473

Hi mbuongirno,
ImageGlad to have you. What part of the world do you hail from? I have been keeping a running list on post #10 on another thread: https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=1194
But here is a complete up-to-date schedule as far as I can tell:

Colorado: 3/22, 3/23, 3/24, and 4/7, 4/8, 4/9, and 4/11, 4/12, 4/13

Idaho: 4/16, 4/17, 4/18

Montana: 4/30, 5/1, 5/2, and 5/4, 5/5, 5/6

Washington: 5/8, 5/9, 5/10

They apparently do not plan them more then a few months in advance, so I doubt you will get a full year schedule anywhere.
