Sanding Disk

Post by mrhart »

With my present making last month, I fell in love with my sanding disk. Where has this thing been all my life? Anyway I have 1 steel disk and 2 aluminum disks that came with my Greenie. I have only used the steel one so far as the aluminum ones have old glued on paper that needs to be changed (looks like its been on there since 1954) and I had a time crunch.
I was looking to mount sticky back paper on all three in different grits 80-100-120. But also looking for another steel one for a 220 maybe.

Is there any advantages of the steel over the aluminum? Do they both hold the paper as well as the other?

Does everyone "disk up" so there is a quick-change paper option?

Not sayin' it's true, but my steel one "seems" flatter.
