I just wonder- is the old rusted, almost "Swiss cheese" metal still encapsulated somehow or do they simply duplicate the original piece?
I'm definitely in the camp of folks who could care less about gambling and the "action" along the Strip. Last time I was there on a business trip a couple years back, the first thing on my agenda was the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop - I couldn't make it there until my meeting was over, so it was something like 6pm and no one was there I recognized other than Antoine the door man. Still, it was fun to check the place out and they clearly get a steady flow of folks wanting to check it out, as it's all set up with roped off area to guide you in and around inside the place to manage the foot traffic, as well as a big section in the middle full of t-shirts and other crap with Chumley's picture on it they are hoping to sell you. What surprsied me was how small the place is - I thought it would be much bigger based on watching the show but it's actually quite small. It's worth a trip to check out, or at least more interesting then 99% of the remainder of Las Vegas IMO, but go there during the day if possible if you hope to see any of the regulars...even then, I have to wonder how much time the new-found celebrities really spend in there when they aren't filming new episodes.

Rick's Restoration would have been great to go see as well - I love that show and continually stand in awe of the work they do.

We were just in Vegas in July. We went to the Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur. It was pretty good. Took our sons to it adn they really enjoyed it. The baby didn't appreciate the pyrotechnics, scared the poop right out of him. :)

It was pretty good, and the food was good.

I don't know if I will ever go back to Vegas. Wasn't that impressed. we were there for a week, and the only money we gambled was at the airport waiting to leave. My wife spent a whole $2.

We did the Hoover Dam and drove out to a state park just over the border into Utah. Had a nice drive in there.

Well the business trip consumed most of the time, and spent dome time with customers. No shows, my wife's crazy mortgage job made it impossible for her to leave so I went solo, so I did'nt want to go to my first show without my prize. Hung out a little in the hotel, never left it actually, wen to the airport early...what a mess.
Next time. Thanks for the input

I think you saw the best side of Las Vegas ;-) Last time I was there for a 4-day training, I did the same thing - one evening I went to the Pawn Stars shop and ate at a Steak 'n' Shake (guilty pleasure for former midwest boy who's been on the west coast for 35 years where Steak 'n; Shake doesn't exist) but other than that, I hung out in my room in the evenings and avoided the ruckus.

This discussion tickles my need to respond only because a major hotel chain called me yesterday and explained that as a preferred customer I had won an expense paid trip to Vegas in order to showcase their brand new hotel. When I thanked the kind lady and declined she asked does this mean you don't care for Vegas? I explained that to be true and she chuckled, do you suppose I am not alone? Jim
