I am forever looking for an allen wrench, the chuck key or a ruler (yes, I know - some people don't use rulers) but hopefully I'll now be doing that less.

Nice idea sir, I like rulers. I like the light the mostest.

I put a big 3" floor magnet on my ER and that's where my allen wrenches and chuck key reside (and anything else that gets too close). I want more magnets.

Never have I had to use an allen wrench as much as I do now since getting a Shopsmith. I ended up sticking a big magnet on the headstock cover, putting a couple of allen wrenches and the chuck key on it. I also have a small tape measure that has a magnet on the back. I slapped that on the headstock cover too.

I keep a six inch stainless ruler, pencils, allen wrenches and chuck key (only when the chuck is in use) in a pocket of this apron. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page ... te=ROCKLER

In other pockets, keep a measuring tape, a phillips screwdriver (just to tighten a screw once in a while) and a package of peanut butter and crackers. LOL

A tray with holes on the left end holds the allen wrench, chuck key and chuck, as well as the miter gauge.
I don't need no steeenkin' ruler.

By guess and by golly is good enough.

If inclined to put a second rubber spacer on your machine - buy two because the new spacers (carriage stop ring 516667) are a different size.

The older ones are 1 3/8" wide and the new ones are 1 15/32". It's a good thing that I had a ruler.

It had no effect on alignment at all. I hung it up on the tool board where it'll stay until one of those others fail.

The only effect that using it would have would be relocation of the saw slot in my stock of zci and my alignment jig would not work the way it was intended.
The blade would be 3/32" further to the left (no longer centered in the cut out).
