Catching up 1

Post by wayne_eagle »

Hi folks,
I got my Shopsmith a while back, August 2012, and intended to get on the forum here regularly but time seems to disappear on me so now that the cold weather has chased me from my garage/shop for a while I thought I'd catch up.

I bought a 510 model used and it came with 7 boxes of 'stuff'. The guy who sold it to me didn't even know what was in them as he acquired it with the same boxes from his wife's uncle and never set it up or used it in ten years.

It took me a few weeks to get the main part of the tool cleaned up and lubricated ready to go so here is a photo of it ready to go.

I know messy shop but I could't wait to get using it. I'm working on it.:o

Nice 510, looks no worse for the wear after that long of a time. I'm in the market for a used unit. I'm mainly interested in getting a used unit just for the accessories that may come with it. At that point, I'll sell the SS for real cheap and then buy a new PP. Hopefully I can find one with a half dozen attachments or so. Is the bandsaw the only attachment yours came with? Any hint on what you paid for your setup? :)

I got quite a bit of 'stuff'.
The bandsaw attachment, router/shaper attachment, ringmaster, lathe duplicator, King dust collector with all the tubing etc..., Oneway lathe chuck, turning knives, Incra fence and a lot of woodcarving stuff including books, videos and patterns all for $1000 cdn. here in the Toronto area.
And yes it is in good shape.

Pretty good deal. I would want at least a jointer and planer along with a bandsaw. Yea, the ringmaster is worth quite a bit just by itself.
