cross feed table

cross feed table

I am intrigued by the idea of making a cross-feed table attachment for my Model 500 to add some (even more than already exists:) ) versatility, mostly for metal working, as shown in this article I found somewhere:

The article is a nicely descriptive pdf file of 4 pages. I am aware that a different guy used a factory made cross slide table, as shown here:

I already have a roughly 1 foot square table that slides on bar rails that was rescued from a scrapped eyeglass frame cutting machine but would need to add a drive screw (all-thread?) with handwheel and a mount to the way tubes.
I will likely proceed to cobble something up but before getting too far along ,I wonder:

Have any of you built something like this?
