Indianapolis Home Show

We took the day off to go to the Indianapolis Home Show yesterday. Usual stuff.:D
I still find myself waiting to walk around a corner and seeing a Shopsmith demo with a bunch of people standing around. It didn't happen (wiping a tear from the corner of my eye). :( :( :( :( :rolleyes: :o :)
Oh well. Maybe next year. :)

Actually, I think that is their best type of market (rather than a place like Lowes) and I suspect that if they would hit some home shows or state fairs that they would find that a back-log market has built up and that sales might be a little surprising even if not on a constant on-going basis.

I feel the same way when the Home and Garden Show comes to Fort Wayne. That's when I bought mine in 2004.

I think they should be following the woodworking show that's currently going around the country and was just in Indianapolis a couple weekends ago.

Wow this is definitely not my day. Fist a home show now a woodworking show. All in Denver during the next ten days hare and I am not allowed to attend either one. Sometime life sucks. Jim

I watched the SS at Home shows for years and watch and wanted, then one day it came to the mall and while my wife was shopping I was not just watching. She was not a happy camper when she got back and I was setting up delivery for my first 510, jointer, and bandsaw. Now 16 years later it is still running strong along with my 520 anniversary addition and three SS ER, A brownie and 505. These thing mulitply when left alone in the shop.Plus all the other SPT that made their way to the shop. LOL:D

Bill your experience hits close to home. When I bought my first 520 at Lowes demo my bride didn't complain at all. A few weeks later she mentioned that when I picked her up from work we needed to stop and pick up a special order of needles at the quilting store. Knowing she would be tired and anxious to get home I tried being the nice guy and picked up her order. The lady who owns the store asked if Jan had mentioned the new top of line Bernina quilting machine she was admiring. I looked at it watched the demo and asked if she had one in stock for Jan. She did and Jan was thrilled to see the carton in the back of the car. To this day she never complains when I buy a tool. She has added several sewing machines and just about as many quilting toys as I have tools. When I visited that quilting store a few months after that machine purchase, I was followed around by every clerk in the store. Finally one explained to me that if I was was in the market for a new wife they had a waiting list, all in jest I assure you. Jim
